Lauren's Trail: Taniguchi Japanese Garden, Zilker Botanical Garden, Austin, Texas Lauren's Trail is a special memorial project involving the reconstruction of an existing stone pathway in the Taniguchi Japanese Garden to meet ADA guidelines. Lauren’s Trail will begin at the north end of the Taniguchi Garden's Koi Pond and end at the Tea House. A Japanese lantern and other architectural features will be a part of this generous memorial gift of $20,000 from the Orton Family to memorialize the life of Lauren Orton. In 2003, Lauren died in a tragic whitewater rafting accident.  The Taniguchi Japanese Garden was one of Lauren's favorite places and her spirit will live on assisting visitors on a new path to the beauty of the Taniguchi Japanese Garden.   Please note: There is currently construction going on in the Taniguchi Japanese Garden in preparation of "Lauren's Trail," an ADA accessible path from the Rose Garden to the Tea House.
