If the parking lot at Zilker Botanical Garden is full, additional parking for the 16th Annual Texas Bamboo Festival will be available on Stratford Drive

Please Print: Special Parking and Safety Instructions:

It is very important that you follow the following directions to the extra parking area. Your safety is our first concern:

As you leave the garden center, take a RIGHT on Barton Springs Road. Get into the left lane, and take your first left under the bridge. Take another left and you will heading back on Barton Springs Road towards the entrance to the garden center. Pass the ZBG entrance and take a left on Stratford Drive. The extra parking area is about 1/4 mile on your right side - across from the Rose Garden Gate. The City of Austin may be collecting a $3 parking fee.

There is no charge if you park under the "Mopac Loop 1" bridge just down the road a small piece. Many of the Hike and Bike Trail users park under the bridge, but you will have a little further to walk.

Enter the Botanical Garden through the Rose Garden gate, view the Arundinaria gigantea (native American bamboo) in the Hartman Prehistoric Garden on your way to the garden center. If you would like to visit the Taniguchi Japanese Garden on your way up the hill to the garden center building where the bamboo festival is being held, then cut through the Rose Garden and see the bamboos in the Taniguchi Garden. The first bamboo you will see from this direction will be the Bambusa oldhamii.
